Deaf WORLD AIDS Day hosted by Family Tree Clinic.






Date and time: 7 pm to 8:30 pm on Wednesday, December 1, 2021 Info: Hosted on Zoom by the Family Tree Clinic’s Deaf, DeafBlind, and Hard of Hearing Department, this virtual event will consist of two parts. First, we will be doing a candlelit vigil to honor all those who have passed away from and those who are living with HIV. Second, after the vigil, we will have a panel discussion with panelists to increase HIV awareness and decrease HIV stigma. This event is open to Deaf, DeafBlind, DeafDisabled, Hard of Hearing, and Late-Deafened (DDBDDHHLD) people in Minnesota and across the country. Come join us in our celebration of the Deaf World AIDS Day!

Date and time: 7 pm to 8:30 pm on Thursday, December 2, 2021 Info: Hosted on Zoom by the Family Tree Clinic’s Deaf, DeafBlind, and Hard of Hearing Department, this virtual workshop will be all about HIV education and pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) as a preventive treatment for HIV. Information and resources on how PrEP is used to treat HIV and its effectiveness will be provided in this workshop. Open to Deaf, DeafBlind, DeafDisabled, Hard of Hearing, and Late-Deafened (DDBDDHHLD) people in Minnesota and across the country, this workshop is aimed to increase HIV awareness and PrEP knowledge across the attendees. Come join us in learning about HIV and PrEP together!

Info: We are asking our amazing community members across Minnesota as well as all over the country to join us on this day by wearing something red. Wear a red shirt, a pair of red pants, red shoes, or all-red attire to show your support! We invite people to share pictures of themselves wearing red to show support for our Deaf, DeafBlind, DeafDisabled, Hard of Hearing, and Late-Deafened folks living with HIV and those who we have lost to AIDS. Use the hashtag #DeafWorldAIDSDay and tag @familytreeclinic.

Info: At noon-time, we will release a video of a storyteller narrating a children’s storybook in American Sign Language on this page. This event is geared towards children, but can be entertaining for people of all ages. More information on the storybook to be announced.









Date and time: 7 pm to 8:30 pm on Tuesday, December 7, 2021 Info: Hosted on Zoom by the Family Tree Clinic’s Deaf, DeafBlind, and Hard of Hearing Department, this virtual event is a trivia game show and all the questions will be related to Deaf Queer people and Deaf Queer history. This event is open to people in Minnesota and across the country. We will be doing a fundraiser through this event for the Deaf Red Ribbon Committee. Come play in this trivia game show with us and learn more about our Deaf Queer folks and Deaf Queer history!
