Dear Minnesota Deaf Queer Community,
Happy New Year! Thank you for all those who participated in Queer Giving. We got so many nice messages from the kindness that was spread to our varying community members by members of this organization. Thank you for sharing your love and TALENT. COVID Is still here and the impact is felt by all of us. While we would like to host in person events, we are taking the needed steps to keep our community safe, especially during the PEAK which is to be happening within the week.
A few updates- (A video log will be posted this weekend).
*After much discussion with community members and hearing their concerns about COVID and the numbers on the rise, we reached Family Tree earlier this week and came to the agreement that it was not the right time to do an in person event and tour at Family Tree Clinic. We will postpone this opportunity until March. More details to come.
This Sunday, we were to meet for our monthly meeting at FTC, but this has been canceled.
*We renewed our website domain and server for another year.
*We have gotten a few requests for our mentorship program and this will be shared at a future meeting. We are excited about this opportunity.
*Riss, our DeafBlind Liaison will be representing us at the Family Tree Clinic Online presentation event next week, Thursday.
* We have been in dialogue with St. Kate's University student service and learning project. There are ten students who would like to contribute to supporting Minnesota Deaf Queers with events, online work, creating flyers, and the list goes on. We will be doing an orientation for them in February. This is an exciting project and community collaboration effort.
*We got the registration form for our MDQ booth at Twin Cities Pride.
*Committee meetings for the following will begin: MDQ booth at Twin Ci
ties Pride, MDQ in the Parade, MDQ ASL talent, Interpreters for stages, MDQ Rainbow Families Cookout and 10th Annual LGBTQ+ Gala (Decade) event that has been postponed. We are excited about all of these opportunities.
*501c(3) is almost completed. We have gotten amazing support from our ally organizations in the LGBTQ+ community and the Council on Nonprofits. We are grateful for all of their support.

MDQ Trivia Night
MDQ will be hosting a MN LOCAL LGBTQ+ Trivia game night with PRIZES. Watch for an invite for February!
MDQ @ Lush (March) Lush has returned. Under new ownership but many of us know the Queen who is now running it. New outlook, new atmosphere and as MDQ used to be regulars, we will be hosting a gathering to bring us all together again there. Keep your eye out for this invitation.
Our next meeting with committee reports and updates will be February 20th, 2022 on ZOOM.
